Survival Horror Movie Whalefall Releases New Trailer
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Daniel Kraus wrote the novel Whalefall, and its movie adaptation arrives next month. On Thursday, 20th Century Studios released a new trailer for the whale horror movie.
Whalefall follows diver Jay Gardiner, played by Austin Abrams, who gets swallowed by a giant sperm whale. With only an hour of oxygen left, Jay must find a way out before he suffocates and becomes whale food. Josh Brolin narrates the trailer as Jay’s father, offering wisdom like, “Remember: survivors survive.”
Austin Abrams has a busy autumn ahead. While other people go apple picking or stroll through pumpkin patches, Austin Abrams will fight his way out of a whale after trying to survive a zombie apocalypse in Resident Evil.
Austin Abrams will not play series favorite Leon S. Kennedy. Instead, he portrays a new character created specifically for the film. Resident Evil director Zach Cregger recently told Polygon that he prefers movies starring an out-of-shape underdog who has never fired a gun before. Austin Abrams captures the feeling of a scared player on the run from a hungry zombie, and in Whalefall, a hungry sperm whale.

Whalefall arrives in theaters on Oct. 16.
