The development team behind Super Monkey Ball at RGG Studio left the industry stunned this week after announcing a radical shift away from human-centric design. According to leadership, the future of the franchise belongs to a singular vision. “The breakthroughs in our upcoming titles will be powered entirely by AiAi,” the series director declared. “AiAi represents the absolute peak of gaming potential. In a perfect world, AiAi would be present in every single frame. There is simply no need for humans to be involved anymore.”
“I rely on AiAi to spark my initial concept sketches,” explained one RGG background artist. “But if I’m being completely transparent, AiAi usually dictates the final look of the environment as well.” When Game Infarcer pushed for clarification on whether AiAi-generated elements were actually making it into the shipping code, the artist confirmed, “Oh, absolutely. I’d say AiAi is deeply embedded in every facet of our workflow.”
A 3D character modeler shared that she constantly monitors the latest AiAi iterations to stay competitive. When we inquired if she favored modern tools like Gemini or the high-end Nano Banana Pro, she appeared puzzled. “I’m not entirely sure about his horoscope, but you could definitely say AiAi is a professional when it comes to bananas,” she remarked.
While the tech world is currently obsessed with generative AI, RGG insists their commitment to AiAi isn’t a recent trend. “I don’t understand why people keep mentioning ChatGPT,” a game producer told us. “Our reliance on AiAi technology predates those programs by decades; we’ve been utilizing AiAi since the very first installment. It is vital to our corporate strategy that every game we produce is saturated with AiAi.”
At Game Infarcer, we maintain that human creativity is the soul of the medium. Given the wave of industry layoffs, supporting the people behind the screen is more critical than ever. However, when we asked RGG about their stance on human involvement, the feedback was unexpectedly hostile.
“What? That is repulsive. Absolutely not,” a senior gameplay designer barked. “Under no circumstances will we be implementing ‘human balls’ into this game. I’m shocked you’d even suggest something so vulgar.”
The tension only eased once we clarified that we were referring to placing human characters inside the rolling spheres. “Oh, man. You gave me a heart attack,” the designer laughed, visibly relaxing. “I think the fact that you used air quotes around ‘human balls’ really sent the wrong message. We did put Kiryu in there once, if that’s what you’re asking about.”
