Steven Yeun Eager to Join ‘Community’ Movie: “Let Me Be in It”

The Community faithful have been clinging to the prophecy of “six seasons and a movie” ever since Danny Pudi’s Abed Nadir first uttered the phrase during the show’s second season in 2011. What began as a meta-joke regarding the short-lived NBC series The Cape eventually became a collective mission statement. When the cult-favorite sitcom finally concluded its sixth run in 2015, the closing frame served as a poignant promise: #andamovie.

Years of speculation followed until 2022, when Peacock greenlit a feature film intended to reunite the original Greendale ensemble—excluding Chevy Chase, whose character, Pierce Hawthorne, was written off in season 5. Despite initial plans to commence production in 2024, the project has faced logistical hurdles, primarily due to the complex scheduling demands of its increasingly prolific cast, with Donald Glover’s packed itinerary often cited as a key factor in the delay.

During a recent discussion with Gillian Jacobs regarding her work on the fourth season of Invincible, the conversation inevitably turned to the status of the Greendale reunion. While Jacobs had few concrete details to share, her Invincible co-star Steven Yeun, who joined her for the interview, eagerly volunteered his services for the potential film.

“I’m completely in the dark, and that is the honest truth,” Jacobs admitted. “But we are all incredibly keen to make it happen. It’s truly remarkable that a project we began in 2009 still generates this much enthusiasm in 2026. I’m just profoundly grateful that there is still such an appetite for these characters.”

Yeun couldn’t resist Chiming in: “Oh my God, please let me be a part of it. Can I? I’m a massive fan of Community.”

“I would love that!” Jacobs responded enthusiastically.

Should the long-awaited movie finally move into production, perhaps there will be room for a Steven Yeun cameo. Until then, fans can catch both actors in Invincible season 4, which premieres March 18 on Prime Video.
