Stephen King’s “Desperation” to Get New Adaptation

Searchlight Pictures is spearheading a fresh adaptation of Stephen King’s chilling novel, Desperation. The project will be produced by Sam Raimi, marking his inaugural collaboration with the studio.

Directorial duties have been entrusted to Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who recently garnered attention for their work on the horror entry Final Destination: Bloodlines. The screenplay is being penned by Ryan Brennan.

The film is based on King’s 1996 literary work of the same name. The narrative centers on a disparate group of travelers who find themselves held captive by a sadistic sheriff in a remote desert town. The protagonists soon discover that the town has been transformed into a lethal trap, orchestrated by an ancient, malevolent force.

While Desperation was previously adapted for the screen in 2006, that iteration failed to achieve critical or commercial success. As of now, details regarding the start of production and the official release window remain undisclosed.
