Steam Player Count for Marvel Tokon Drops by Half

Arc System Works’ Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has lost more than half of its player base on Steam within a week due to issues with the PC version.

The release of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls by Arc System Works was expected to be a major event for fighting game fans. The title was called a spiritual successor to Marvel vs. Capcom, but the PC version encountered serious problems.

At launch, Marvel Tokon nearly reached the milestone of 25,000 concurrent players on Steam. A week later during peak hours, that figure rarely exceeds 10,000 to 12,000.

The reported cause of the player drop is problems with the PC version: noticeable button input lag, unstable optimization, and strict protection that prevents the game from launching on Linux devices. Compounding the situation are regional restrictions that prevent the digital version from being purchased in many countries.

Even well-known content creators and genre veterans are advising players to skip the PC version in favor of the PS5 edition, which runs significantly more stably.
