The Stagecoach Festival faced a temporary setback on Saturday evening as intense winds compelled organizers to pause live sets and clear the event site for safety reasons.
Emergency alerts pulsed across the venue’s digital displays, urging attendees to vacate the premises promptly and in an orderly fashion. Concurrently, notifications pushed through the official festival app advised patrons to depart the grounds and move their vehicles toward designated exit points.
The sudden safety measure impacted operations throughout the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. While the Mane Stage was between performances when the evacuation order was issued, activity across other stages was also halted as the crowd began to filter out of the venue.
Gusty conditions had been escalating throughout the day, eventually triggering a formal wind advisory. By the evening, the strengthening gales necessitated the precautionary measure.
Billboard contributor Jessica Nicholson, reporting from the Palomino Stage, noted the abrupt shift in atmosphere. “The screens flanking the Palomino Stage turned red, displaying notices that the area was closed and mandating an immediate evacuation,” she recounted as the set by Gavin Adcock was interrupted.
While thousands of fans made their way toward the exits, the departure remained remarkably orderly. Shortly after the site was cleared, event organizers utilized social media to inform the public that they were working to stabilize the venue for a safe reopening, successfully resuming festivities later that night.
The site remained closed for approximately 30 minutes before operations recommenced.
