Dedicated fans continue to hold out hope for a potential sequel.
Square Enix recently brought Nier: Automata back into the spotlight. As the title approaches its ninth anniversary, the publisher is gearing up to commemorate the milestone in style.
A special celebratory livestream is scheduled for February 20, 2026, featuring a panel of key figures behind the franchise:
- Creative Director Yoko Taro;
- Franchise Producer Yosuke Saito;
- Nier: Automata Senior Game Designer Takahisa Taura.
The broadcast will be split into two segments: a general session for the public and an exclusive private session reserved for Niconico Premium subscribers.
However, Square Enix was quick to temper expectations, stating there are “no plans to reveal new information regarding the game,” effectively ruling out any sequel announcements or major project reveals during the event.
