Amazon has officially pulled back the curtain on its highly anticipated Spider-Man Noir live-action adaptation. The streaming giant recently debuted a pair of stylistic trailers for Spider-Noir, which is scheduled to arrive on Prime Video this May 27. In a nod to the genre’s roots, the footage was released in two distinct formats: an “authentic black and white” version that captures the essence of classic hardboiled cinema, and a “True-Hue Color” edition. This dual-presentation mirrors how the series itself will be made available to audiences.

Starring Nicolas Cage as a world-weary 1930s private investigator, this Spider-Verse spin-off leans heavily into the gritty aesthetics of traditional film noir, evoking the stark, high-contrast atmosphere of Sin City. The trailers introduce Cage as Ben Reilly, a man who eventually adopts the mantle of a masked vigilante to combat the corruption of the Great Depression era. While keeping specific plot points under wraps, the teaser highlights an impressive supporting cast:

  • Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson: A principled journalist and a trusted ally to Ben.
  • Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy: The quintessential femme fatale, a sultry cabaret singer with dangerous ties to the criminal underworld.
  • Karen Rodriguez as Janet: Reilly’s dedicated and resourceful secretary.
  • Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane: A ruthless mob kingpin with a complicated history involving our protagonist.

Beyond showcasing Cage’s penchant for playing complex, slightly unhinged characters, the footage offers a glimpse of the hero’s signature web-slinging, ensuring that the series remains anchored in the Spider-Man mythos. However, the show isn’t afraid to subvert expectations, notably flipping the iconic Spidey mantra on its head: “With no power comes no responsibilities.”

Anticipation for Spider-Noir has reached a fever pitch since its initial reveal in 2023. Recent promotional displays at CCXP confirmed a major departure from previous iterations: this version of the character is Ben Reilly rather than Peter Parker. While the Noir variant has traditionally been depicted as a cynical, battle-hardened Peter Parker, showrunner Oren Uziel appears to be forging a unique narrative path for this live-action venture.

Following the immense success of Tom Holland’s MCU trilogy and the groundbreaking Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, fans have been eager for a fresh, mature take on the web-head. If the trailers are any indication, Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir is poised to deliver a dark, stylish, and wholly original experience.

Spider-Noir is slated for a 2026 debut and will be available exclusively on Prime Video.
