Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled an inaugural glimpse of Sophie Turner as the world-renowned archaeologist, Lara Croft. Set to headline the highly anticipated live-action Tomb Raider television series, Turner’s appearance pays a striking homage to the franchise’s roots. Adorned with her trademark twin pistols, tactical gloves, and those nostalgic red-tinted spectacles, the aesthetic seamlessly bridges the gap between the classic 1990s renders and the “unified” design slated for her future gaming endeavors.

Turner, widely celebrated for her portrayals of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones and Jean Grey in the X-Men saga, officially secured the mantle of Lara Croft last year. She joins an elite lineage of performers who have brought the adventurer to life, including Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander on the big screen, as well as Hayley Atwell in Netflix’s animated venture, The Legend of Lara Croft. This latest iteration feels like a direct nod to the original PlayStation era that first defined the character for a generation.

The ensemble cast surrounding Turner is equally formidable, featuring industry stalwarts Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs, alongside Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, Sasha Luss, and Celia Imrie. The creative vision for the series is spearheaded by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer. Waller-Bridge is joined by co-showrunner Chad Hodge and director Jonathan Van Tulleken, the latter of whom recently received acclaim for his work on Shōgun.

Production is currently in full swing at Amazon MGM Studios. While the series is destined for an exclusive debut on Prime Video, a formal release date has yet to be finalized.

Beyond the television landscape, the *Tomb Raider* franchise is entering a transformative era. Fans are eagerly anticipating *Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis*, a comprehensive remake of the original title developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog, slated for a 2026 launch via Amazon Games. This will be followed in 2027 by *Tomb Raider: Catalyst*, a groundbreaking new entry that aims to be the most expansive and ambitious project in the history of the series.
