Sony has finally abandoned the idea of releasing its flagship projects on PC — Bloomberg
In recent weeks, the company has reportedly shuttered the development of PC editions for Ghost of Yōtei and several other upcoming titles.
Sony Group Corp. appears to be orchestrating a fundamental shift in its approach to PC gaming. According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the technology giant no longer intends to port its flagship PlayStation 5 exclusives to the PC platform.
The report suggests that the PlayStation division has recently scrapped plans for PC versions of projects like Ghost of Yōtei and other high-profile games. This pivot implies that highly anticipated titles such as Wolverine will remain tethered to the PS5. Furthermore, the future availability of blockbuster franchises like God of War and Ratchet & Clank on PC has been cast into doubt.
Despite this change, multiplayer-focused projects will continue to launch beyond the core PlayStation ecosystem. Notable examples include Marathon and Marvel Tōkon, which are still slated for multi-platform releases.
A spokesperson for PlayStation has reportedly declined to comment on the strategic reversal.
