Sony Announces All-Black PS5 Console for November Release
Sony has announced an all-black PS5 scheduled to launch exclusively in Japan on November 19, 2026.
Sony has introduced the PS5 Digital Edition Midnight Black Japanese Edition, an entirely black version of the console that will release in Japan on November 19, 2026, for 55,000 yen (about $367).
Pre-orders open on October 20 at select Japanese retailers. The new model features a black chassis matching Midnight Black accessories, along with an 825 GB SSD. The console ships without a disc drive, which can be purchased separately for 11,980 yen (about $80).
The main limitation is regional locking. The console targets the Japanese market, supporting Japanese PlayStation accounts and the Japanese system language. Sony has not yet announced plans to release this version in other countries.
Buyers can also take advantage of a special promotion: registering the console extends the standard one-year warranty to two years. This offer is valid until March 31, 2027.
It remains unknown whether the entirely black PS5 will launch in Europe.
