PlayStation Store Price Increases Raise Global Concerns Among Gamers
Games from various publishers and virtual currency have unexpectedly increased in price on the South Korean PlayStation Store. Even the local branch of Sony has not yet been able to explain the reasons behind the changes.
The price of Elden Ring saw the largest increase, jumping from 64,800 to 79,800 won (approximately from $44 to $54), which is a 23% rise. Both parts of Nioh Remastered, Remnant 2, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, and Nine Sols also became more expensive. Depending on the game, the increases ranged from 2,000 to 15,000 won (from $1.35 to $10.15).
Microtransactions were also affected by the adjustments. A bundle of 5,750 Caliber units in The First Descendant now costs 129,800 won instead of 109,800 won ($88 instead of $74). Similar changes were noticed in Genshin Impact.
According to GameMeca, Sony Korea requested clarifications from its head office. A representative from one of the publishers suggested that the company is adjusting prices to account for currency exchange rates, although partners were not warned in advance.

At the same time, Sony’s own games, including Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War, kept their previous prices. There is currently no confirmation that the price increases will affect other regions, and the changes may remain localized.
