The global anticipation for the 2026 World Cup has officially reached a fever pitch. On Saturday, May 23, Colombian icon Shakira unveiled the highly awaited music video for “Dai Dai,” her collaborative tournament anthem with Afro-fusion star Burna Boy.

The four-minute cinematic experience kicks off with a powerful sequence featuring soccer royalty—including Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland—confirming the world’s readiness for the upcoming festivities.

Directed by the visionary Hannah Lux Davis and filmed in Miami, the video serves as a high-energy journey. It opens with the “Whenever, Wherever” songstress commanding the stage atop Mexico City’s historic Angel of Independence, before shifting into vivid, desert-inspired choreography alongside a troupe of African dancers.

Burna Boy brings his signature charisma to the track, appearing alongside Shakira as she stands against a celestial, glowing backdrop. The production expands into a massive stadium setting, featuring dancers adorned in the colors of participating nations, highlighting the inclusive, worldwide spirit of the tournament hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

The grand finale serves as a nostalgic tribute to the sport’s history. Archival footage celebrates legendary players like Diego Maradona, Paolo Maldini, Romário, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, and Kaká, weaving them into the fabric of the current era alongside rising powerhouses like Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia.

“Dai Dai” marks a historic return to the FIFA stage for Shakira, following the colossal success of her 2010 anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to commence on June 11 at Estadio Azteca, culminating in a final showdown on July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium. Fans can also look forward to an electrifying halftime performance featuring a superstar trio: Shakira, Madonna, and BTS.
