SEVENTEEN Makes Tiny Desk History as First K‑Pop Act to Perform at NPR
Published
South Korea’s global supergroup SEVENTEEN broke new ground at NPR’s Tiny Desk, becoming the first K‑pop act invited into the famed Tiny Desk office for a live performance. The quintet — Joshua, Mingyu, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino — squeezed behind the iconic desk and delivered a spirited, close‑quarters set that delighted the studio audience.
The brief program, which was posted online on , featured selections drawn from the group’s catalog. Highlights included “Darl+ing,” “_WORLD,” “SOS,” “Rock With You,” “CLAP” and “HOT.” The band opened with the high‑energy track “Super,” and later closed the mini‑show by urging everyone to jump and chant “Aju nice” during “VERY NICE.”
Vernon repeatedly expressed the members’ astonishment and gratitude: they were taken aback by the warm reception and confessed to feeling nervous about performing in such an intimate setting. After fans cheered and called out song requests, the five musicians even performed an impromptu, a cappella snippet of “HBD,” their 2025 release, in response to a shouted request.
One playful fan moment came when someone yelled, “VERNON, you’re my bias!” — to which he responded with a hand‑heart. Throughout the performance the group emphasized how much the audience’s energy helped them relax and enjoy the experience.
SEVENTEEN’s Tiny Desk appearance comes amid their ongoing tour supporting 2025’s album Happy Burstday, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The full group — including S.Coups, Jeonghan, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8 and DK — continues celebrating milestones this year: their Ventelin Dome Nagoya concert will be streamed in theaters worldwide on as part of events marking the band’s 10‑year anniversary.
