Selena Gomez Misplaced Her Vows Before Marrying Benny Blanco, but He Saved the Day: ‘It Made Me Look So Good’

Benny Blanco Recalls Saving Selena Gomez’s Wedding Vows During ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Appearance

Benny Blanco may have solidified his status as a “hero” husband just days before tying the knot with Selena Gomez last September. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this past Thursday, the hitmaker joined his longtime collaborator and close friend Dave “Lil Dicky” Burd to promote their latest venture, the Friends Keep Secrets podcast. During the interview, Blanco shared a frantic pre-wedding anecdote involving Gomez’s misplaced wedding vows.

According to Blanco, the handwritten vows went missing for nearly five days, leading to a fair amount of pre-ceremony stress. “I actually found them right before the wedding,” Blanco told Kimmel, noting the relief it brought. When questioned if he took a sneak peek at the private words, Blanco was adamant: “I didn’t look. I closed my eyes and handed them right to her. I swear! But honestly, finding them made me look so good. It was the ultimate win right before the ‘I dos.’ She was in tears because she thought they were gone forever.”

The wedding festivities weren’t without their comedic hitches, however. Blanco shared that Gomez had reached out to him beforehand with specific instructions for Burd, who served as the officiant. She requested that certain topics be left out of his speech to avoid overlapping with her own. “She said, ‘Make sure Dave doesn’t mention these specific parts,’” Blanco recalled. “And of course, those exact points made up the first three minutes of his opening.”

Burd defended his creative choices with a shrug, joking, “I wanted to push back, but hey, it was her wedding.”

Beyond wedding talk, the duo delved into the eccentric nature of their brotherhood. The pair, who frequently host sleepovers and openly exchange “I love yous,” explained the premise of their new project. While they insist it isn’t a traditional podcast, but rather a filmed “hangout,” the first episode already featured a heated, 15-minute debate regarding the nuances of marinades. “It’s still unresolved,” Burd noted, while a mock-agitated Blanco insisted his friend was “dead wrong.”

The conversation also pivoted to a recent viral moment involving Blanco’s hygiene—specifically, a photo of his dark-soled feet resting on Burd’s furniture. Blanco was quick to shift the blame to the recording studio’s floors. “It’s the facility’s fault, not mine!” he claimed. In a move of comedic transparency, Blanco removed his shoes on stage, urging the camera crew to get a close-up of his feet to vindicate his reputation.
