Sebastian Stan in talks to play villain in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II — Reports

Fans are interpreting this potential casting as a cryptic hint that Bucky Barnes’ journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may soon be reaching its conclusion.

Sebastian Stan, widely celebrated for his portrayal of Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is reportedly poised to join the ensemble of The Batman Part II. According to Deadline, the actor is currently in advanced negotiations for a pivotal antagonistic role within Matt Reeves’ grounded universe. Industry insider Jeff Sneider further suggests that Stan is the frontrunner to play Harvey Dent—the Gotham City prosecutor destined to descend into villainy as the iconic Two-Face.

If these rumors materialize, it will mark the first cinematic appearance of Two-Face since Aaron Eckhart’s acclaimed performance in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. This move also represents another high-profile talent crossover between rival franchises; recent reports have similarly linked Scarlett Johansson to a role in the upcoming DC sequel.

News of Stan’s potential leap to DC has ignited fervent speculation among the Marvel faithful. Many see this as an indirect sign that Bucky Barnes might meet his demise in Avengers: Doomsday. Beyond narrative theories, fans point to practical logistical hurdles: filming for the Batman sequel is slated to begin this spring and is expected to overlap with the production of Avengers: Secret Wars, which is currently scheduled to start shooting in the summer of 2026.
