Sci-Fi Thriller Onslaught Releases on Streaming
Adam Wingard started his career making low-budget horror films featuring jump scares, but the director is best known for helming the MonsterVerse franchise. In 2021, he directed Godzilla vs. Kong, and he followed it with 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Both blockbusters focused on mutant kaiju and a famous ape, performing well at the box office. When Adam Wingard announced his departure from the franchise, the decision surprised many viewers.
Longtime fans of Adam Wingard felt less surprised by the change. Before directing Godzilla, Adam Wingard built his reputation with intense action and horror movies, notably You’re Next and The Guest. Both films featured an ordinary family facing relentless threats. His next movie combines those two filmmaking styles.
Onslaught arrives on VOD very soon. Here is information about the upcoming release.
What is the plot of Onslaught?

Adam Wingard places Adria Arjona at the center of the story, giving her multiple weapons and an aggressive role instead of the mistreatment her character faced across two seasons of the Star Wars sci-fi drama Andor. That premise drives the narrative of Onslaught.
Adria Arjona stars as Celeste, an army sniper and single mother living in a trailer park while trying to raise her young daughter. Her life gets harder when a group of super soldiers escapes from a secret military facility and targets her family. The trailer provides no explicit motive for the hunt, but the super soldiers act as human heat-seeking missiles pursuing something in Celeste’s possession.
The film adopts a grindhouse tone. It channels the gritty horror and action films of the 1970s and 1980s, a style shaped by directors like James Cameron in Terminator and John Carpenter across his filmography. A24 brings a polished sheen to the production of Onslaught.
Who is the cast of Onslaught?

Onslaught features several recognizable names, including Dan Stevens and Rebecca Hall. Rebecca Hall previously collaborated with Adam Wingard on The Guest and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
The cast also includes professional UFC fighters Alex Pereira and Maurice Greene, Michael Biehn from The Terminator, Drew Starkey from Love, Simon, Eric Wareheim from Master of None, and Reginald VelJohnson from Die Hard.
Is Onslaught a sequel?
At San Diego Comic-Con, Dan Stevens called Onslaught a “spiritual sequel” to his horror-action film The Guest. That movie follows U.S. soldier David Collins, played by Dan Stevens, who visits the Peterson family as a friend of their son Caleb, who died in combat in Afghanistan. David operates as a super soldier programmed to eliminate anyone who threatens his identity.
Adam Wingard confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that Onslaught takes place in the same town. He suggested the covert experiments that created David connect to the events of The Guest. The film shares a universe with the previous project, but characters from The Guest do not appear, meaning viewers can watch Onslaught without seeing the earlier film.

What is Onslaught’s runtime?
Onslaught has a runtime of 92 minutes, which is 1 hour and 32 minutes.
When is Onslaught’s streaming release date?
Onslaught arrives in theaters on Oct. 6.
