Sam Fisher mourns Solid Snake in his Ghost Recon cameo

Sam Fisher has made his return, although sadly it’s not because the star of a brand new Splinter Cell recreation. His function in Ghost Recon Wildlands’ new special operation is a strong different, however there’s no denying the devoted stealth style has seen higher days. That’s a reality Fisher himself laments in his Wildlands visitor look, making reference to the opposite nice hero in videogame stealth.

You and Sam can each console yourselves with the best stealth games on PC.

In a cutscene organising the Wildlands mission, Fishers says “I’ve heard they don’t make them like me anymore. There was this other guy, though. Army Infiltration. He wore a bandana or something.”

His handler replies “I heard he finally retired.”

“Really? Then it’s only me.”

Michael Ironside delivers the road with such an genuine sense of lament that you simply’d assume Sam is on the verge of breakdown. The man with the bandana, in fact, can discuss with none aside from Solid Snake – or Big Boss, I suppose – who’s not even a featured participant in his personal sequence.

You also can take this as affirmation that Splinter Cell, Metal Gear, Ghost Recon, and by extension Predator (then even Alien) all exist in the identical universe. Sam Fisher simply broke gaming’s six levels of separation extensive open.
