Sam Asghari is voicing his support for his former spouse, Britney Spears, as she pursues treatment in a wellness facility following her recent arrest on suspicion of DUI.
During an encounter in West Hollywood on Wednesday (April 22), Asghari shared his perspective on the pop icon’s decision to enter a care center. “I think it’s wonderful,” he remarked. “Any path toward healing is a positive step, provided the individual is driving that journey themselves. That’s what matters most.” He noted that he has not been in personal contact with the star recently.
On April 12, representatives for the singer confirmed to Billboard that she had voluntarily admitted herself into a facility, though they did not specify a reason for her stay. This follows her arrest in Ventura County, California, on March 4, where she was processed and released the next morning.
Addressing the arrest shortly after the incident, a spokesperson for Spears stated, “This was an unfortunate and regrettable situation. Britney is committed to cooperating with the legal process, and we remain hopeful that this period can serve as a turning point in her life. We appreciate the space and support she is receiving during this challenging time.”
The Grammy-winning artist and the fitness model were married in 2022 after meeting on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video. Following their separation, their divorce was finalized in December 2024.
In the wake of her arrest, Asghari previously spoke to Fox News, emphasizing the importance of discretion. “Everyone encounters hurdles, but I firmly believe in the necessity of privacy. I hope the media has learned from past experiences and will afford her the dignity she deserves.” At this time, Spears has chosen not to make any public remarks regarding the legal situation or her current treatment.
