Sakurazaka46 Claims the Top Spot on the Billboard Japan Hot 100

In the latest Billboard Japan Hot 100 update released on June 17, Sakurazaka46’s new track, “Lonesome rabbit,” has officially ascended to the No. 1 position.
Serving as the lead single for their latest release, “Lonesome rabbit / What’s ‘KAZOKU’?,” the song enjoyed a stellar debut week. It moved 683,481 physical units, complemented by strong performances across digital platforms: it secured the No. 6 spot in downloads, No. 14 in streaming, No. 50 in radio airplay, and No. 95 in video views.
Sakanaction’s hit “Yoru no Odoriko” climbed four positions to take No. 2 this week. The track saw a massive 109% increase in karaoke engagement compared to the previous week, and it reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the streaming chart for the first time in a fortnight.
Arashi continues to maintain a powerful presence on the charts, with three tracks appearing in the top 10: “Five” at No. 3, “Love so sweet” at No. 9, and “Happiness” at No. 10. Impressively, the legendary boy band accounts for 19 entries within the top 100 this week.
Sakanaction also saw a surge for their track “Kaiju,” which leapt from No. 61 to No. 30. This momentum follows their triumphant night at the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026 on June 13, where the group secured eight accolades, including Song of the Year and Best Rock Song. The buzz surrounding the ceremony triggered a significant spike in activity: downloads rose to 153% of the previous week’s figures, while streaming and video views climbed to 107% and 165%, respectively. Additionally, interest in Michael Jackson’s catalog saw a resurgence following the June 12 theatrical release of his biopic, pushing “Beat It” to No. 50 and “Billie Jean” to No. 61.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 is a comprehensive chart that aggregates data from physical sales, digital downloads, audio streaming, radio airplay, video views, and karaoke frequency.
