Rumor: Xbox Project Helix to run games at up to 240 FPS
Project Helix will feature an updated FPS Boost technology that will allow Xbox Series X games to run at up to 240 FPS.
According to a leak, Microsoft is working on a new console codenamed Project Helix, which is scheduled for release in late 2027. One of the platform’s key features will be the deep integration of an updated FPS Boost. Engineers are reportedly designing the system so that Xbox Series X games can run at 120 and 240 FPS on modern OLED TVs without requiring developer intervention.
The console’s chip has already passed the tape-out stage. Its base computing power will reach 56 TFLOPS compared to 12 TFLOPS on the Xbox Series X, and thanks to an AMD architecture with dual-issue FP32, the peak figure will reach 112 TFLOPS.
The new technology will serve as an evolution of the FPS Boost on Xbox Series X|S, where older games were boosted to 60 and 120 FPS. Project Helix will be able to automatically increase frame rates to 120 and 240 FPS while preserving the original resolution and base graphics settings.

The powerful hardware will require a large cooling system, and the console’s price may exceed $1,000. A presentation will take place closer to the release in late 2027.
