SAGA Barcelona Game Fest names 29 publishers for its October 9–11 programme

SAGA Barcelona Game Fest has named 29 publishers for its professional programme ahead of the October 9–11 event at Fira Barcelona Montjuïc. The group includes 22 international publishers and seven from Spain, with Devolver Digital, Focus Entertainment, 11 bit studios and Curve among the companies taking part.

The organisers say the MeetToMatch platform had nearly 400 registered participants and around 350 meetings booked as of their October 2 announcement. They are targeting 1,500 meetings over the event. Larian is sponsoring a mentorship programme, while Madrid In Game and WINGS will participate in the professional activities.

Japan joins the public programme

Japan is the guest country for the first edition of SAGA, which brings together BCN Game Fest, RetroBarcelona and SAGA Saló del Gaming. Nintendo will have an official booth. Composers Miki Higashino, known for Suikoden and Gradius, and Manami Matsumae, whose credits include Mega Man and Final Fight, will attend interviews and meet-and-greet sessions.

The public exhibition covers 14,000 square metres and is set to feature more than 200 indie games, 150 retro arcade machines, VR experiences and esports activities. The My Famicase exhibition will display cartridges designed by 250 artists.
