Rumor: Switch 2 May Feature Replaceable Batteries Outside Europe
Nintendo may release Joy-Con 2 controllers with replaceable batteries outside Europe, as US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) documents point to hardware updates for the Switch 2.
Nintendo UK previously announced that new console and controller versions featuring user-replaceable batteries would launch in Europe to comply with upcoming EU regulations taking effect next year.
Now, Nintendo Patents Watch has discovered FCC filings indicating a potential North American release for updated Joy-Con 2 controllers. These versions may also replace current models in other markets.

Similar details apply to the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller and the GameCube-style gamepad available through the Nintendo Switch Online catalog.
It remains unconfirmed whether the Switch 2 consoles themselves will change or if the new accessories will launch globally, as Nintendo has not made any official announcements. If the reports are accurate, players outside Europe will also be able to replace batteries themselves and extend the lifespan of their controllers.
