Barbie star Margot Robbie is reportedly a frontrunner to headline a gender‑swapped remake of American Psycho, according to the British tabloid The Sun.
The outlet says the new take will change the gender of the central character, Patrick Bateman. Luca Guadagnino has been tapped to direct the remake.
Previously, Austin Butler and Jacob Elordi were named among actors considered for the murderous banker Bateman, though no casting has been officially confirmed. Lionsgate will handle the film’s release.
American Psycho is adapted from Bret Easton Ellis’s 1991 novel. The best‑known screen version remains Mary Harron’s 2000 film, which starred Christian Bale in the lead role.
