Rumor: Disney Interested in Rebooting Home Alone

Journalist Matthew Belloni has reported on the potential development of a new installment in the Home Alone franchise, which may feature the return of Macaulay Culkin.

According to Belloni, Culkin has already engaged in discussions with Disney executives regarding a concept for a reboot. As far back as 2025, the actor expressed a keen interest in reprising his iconic role as Kevin McCallister. The proposed storyline would reportedly follow an adult Kevin, now a father, who finds himself locked out of his own home by his son—who, in a clever role reversal, has rigged the house with various traps to keep his dad at bay.

Directed by Chris Columbus, the original Home Alone premiered in 1990, followed by the sequel Lost in New York in 1992. Together, the two films grossed a combined $835 million at the global box office and catapulted Culkin to international superstardom. The franchise later expanded with third, fourth, and fifth installments, though none of these featured Culkin.
