Rod Stewart Faces Health Scare Onstage, Relies on Oxygen Mid-Performance

Rock icon Rod Stewart experienced a concerning health episode during his recent concert in Utah, leaving fans alarmed as the 81-year-old artist required supplemental oxygen to continue his set.
The incident occurred this past Friday (June 19) at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City. According to reports and circulating fan footage, the legendary singer-songwriter appeared visibly distressed, struggling with his breathing and nearly collapsing before his support team intervened with an oxygen tank.
The veteran performer was midway through a rendition of his 1981 classic “Young Turks” when he began to show signs of physical exhaustion, eventually leaning against equipment for stability. Demonstrating his long-standing commitment to his craft, Stewart assured the worried audience that “the show must go on,” though he lightheartedly asked, “Would you mind if I sat down for this one?”
He ultimately completed the remainder of the concert from a seated position. Observers suggest that the high altitude of West Valley City—situated roughly 4,300 feet above sea level—likely compounded the physical strain on the singer.
This event follows recent discussions regarding the future of Stewart’s touring career. In late May, the singer hinted that his current “One Last Time” farewell tour might signal the twilight of his large-scale live performances. Reflecting on his future, Stewart noted, “I’ve got 40-odd shows this year… I’m touring the U.K. next year and doing the O2, and that will probably be it.”
Earlier this month, Stewart also faced scrutiny for canceling a performance in San Diego just an hour before curtain, citing a sudden diagnosis of acute upper respiratory infection and laryngitis. Despite that cancellation, he was spotted attending a soccer match in Boston later that same day.
As the “One Last Time” tour continues through the summer, fans are closely monitoring the status of his upcoming performances, which are currently slated to run through mid-August before a transition to his scheduled Las Vegas residency.
