Rockstar Overhauls Gunplay and Movement for GTA VI With Focus on Realism

Rockstar will make GTA VI noticeably more realistic than GTA V by disabling auto-aim by default, increasing weapon recoil, and removing automatic enemy markers from the mini-map.

GTA VI will feature major changes to gunplay, movement, and NPC behavior, as Rockstar makes the game noticeably more realistic than GTA V.

One of the main additions is that auto-aim is disabled by default. It remains unknown whether players will be able to enable classic auto-targeting, but the settings will let players adjust aiming parameters and the strength of the aim-snapping effect on enemies.

Players will also be able to adjust normal walking and running speeds individually. The cover system mapped to R1 will return, and players will be able to switch shoulders while aiming, much like in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Gunplay itself will feel more impactful, featuring stronger weapon recoil and more pronounced hit reactions. Enemies will not automatically appear on the mini-map. Meanwhile, kill cameras can be disabled completely.

The weapon-carrying system will also change. Jason and Lucia will be able to carry two pistols, while long guns will be subject to restrictions. NPCs will react to the amount of weaponry the protagonist carries and whether it is drawn. This applies especially to the police, where a single firearm may prompt a warning, while multiple weapons can quickly escalate the situation.
