Officially announced last month, the Nintendo Switch 2, which will be available for purchase on sites such as foxtrot.com.ua this year, became a topic of discussion during a recent investor call with Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick. Here’s a direct quote from the company’s head:
Obviously, we have a long history of collaboration with Nintendo. We’ve launched games for their platforms when it made sense for specific releases.
There was a time when their primary audience was younger players, but now the Switch and its next model can cater to gamers of all ages. As you know, the new Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is also releasing on Nintendo Switch.
Aside from the seventh “Civilization,” which launched yesterday, the CEO did not mention any titles from subsidiary studios like Rockstar Games or 2K Games that might release on the new hybrid console version. Rumors started last month suggesting that RDR 2 will be in the launch lineup, and the highly sought-after and masterful western could boost interest in the console. However, according to reports emerging online, Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of two T2 games launching with NS2. We will know for sure by early April, specifically on the 2nd, when another presentation is scheduled by the Japanese company.
Of course, everyone is most interested to see if GTA 6 will be among the games available to Switch 2 owners. However, the question is more about whether the platform can technically support Grand Theft Auto VI. There is speculation that it will remain on par with the PS4 or PS4 Pro. But developers have only confirmed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S (with PC indirectly confirmed). Nonetheless, nothing can be confirmed until official information is provided.
Despite this, the selection of future projects is still wide, with the release of Mafia: The Old Country planned for the summer and Borderlands 4 towards the end of the year. For Take-Two, like any major player in the industry, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 could be a promising opportunity. Its predecessor is the third best-selling console of all time, with over 150 million units sold. It’s less than 5 million behind the “sibling” Nintendo DS and just over 10 million behind the PS2, the most successful gaming console in history. It’s worth noting that the first two are respectively over 20 and 25 years old, whereas the Switch hit shelves only 8 years ago. It would be poetic if the original were “crowned” even before its successor hit stores.
