Rockstar and Take-Two Financial Report: GTA 6 in a Year, Sale of Private Division and More Today at 13:28 Opla G20

A year ago, Rockstar Games announced the debut of the “next Grand Theft Auto”. Typically, within this timeframe, developers manage to release the first official screenshots and a second trailer. As always, fans were hoping for something before the new financial report from Take-Two. However, right before the event, the results of the U.S. presidential election became known, and a statement from six years ago by the former second-in-command of the company, Dan Houser, resurfaced online, saying it’s good the game wasn’t released during Trump’s presidency. If anyone was baited into thinking “GTA 6” will now be delayed until the end of 2028, that’s not the case. The rights holder has officially confirmed the previous release window for GTA 6 — fall of next year. Of course, this doesn’t guarantee there won’t be any delays, but any such delays won’t occur before spring. Nonetheless, you won’t have to wait until the end of a presidential term.

Sales Figures

  • GTA 5 and GTA Online — 205 million (plus 5 million in the last three months).
  • The entire Grand Theft Auto series — 435 million (plus 5 million).
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 — 67 million (plus 2 million).
  • The Red Dead series — 92 million (plus 1 million; don’t ask how their math works — we don’t know either, we can only assume they imply something vague under the term “more,” which they add before each number).

Other News

  • The release period for Borderlands 4 and the more interesting Mafia: The Old Country is indicated as the next fiscal year. This means the releases could be delayed until fall 2026.
  • T2 sold its Private Division subdivision, responsible for projects like The Outer Worlds and Kerbal Space Program 2. The buyer and the deal’s amount are unknown.
  • The closure of two studios, which was previously denied by Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick, has been confirmed.
  • The rights holder is disappointed with the Borderlands movie adaptation but says it boosted the sales of the game series. Also, this will not affect the decision to collaborate with Netflix on a BioShock franchise film.
