Reviewers received only one version of Crimson Desert ahead of its release
The upcoming release of this ambitious project has sparked immense interest within the gaming community. While expectations are high that the PC version will deliver a superior visual experience—particularly on high-end hardware—some fans have expressed concern over the apparent lack of console-specific footage.
New details have surfaced via the publication Areajugones, which contacted the developer, Pearl Abyss, directly. According to their findings, reviewers have currently been granted access only to the PC build, as keys for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions have not yet been distributed.
The studio clarified that PS5 digital keys will not be issued until the game officially launches. Consequently, the initial wave of reviews appearing prior to the release date will be based exclusively on the PC experience.
Despite the delay in console access, the studio emphasizes that this is not an attempt to conceal the game’s performance on consoles. Instead, they attribute the situation to tight production and release schedules. Definitive conclusions regarding the console versions’ performance will likely emerge only after the official launch.
It is also expected that a comprehensive technical analysis of the PS5 version will eventually be provided by Digital Foundry.
