Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Has Sold More Than 1 Million Copies for Eight Consecutive Years

While fans await the arrival of Resident Evil Requiem, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard has consistently posted strong sales since its 2017 debut. According to Capcom’s interim report for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, the title has moved 15,936,000 copies and continues to sell more than a million units annually.

Compared to other entries in the franchise, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard ranks second in lifetime sales, trailing only the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2. The game’s growth was initially gradual—likely due to a change in protagonist and the switch to a first-person viewpoint—but positive reviews and word-of-mouth helped sustain its long-term appeal. From April to September 2025 alone, it sold roughly 1.14 million copies.

Broad platform availability has also bolstered sales. A port for the Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on February 27, 2026, coinciding with the worldwide release of Resident Evil Requiem.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, iPadOS, PC (Windows and macOS), and Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition will be released on February 27, 2026.
