Tero Virtala had held the position of Chief Executive Officer since August 2016.
Tero Virtala has stepped down as CEO of Remedy Entertainment, the company announced. Markus Mäki, one of the studio’s founders, has been appointed interim CEO while the company begins its search for a new permanent leader.
Virtala led Remedy from 2016 onward. During his tenure the studio released titles such as Control, Alan Wake 2 and FBC: Firebreak. The latter turned into a commercial disappointment, generating losses of more than €14 million.
Markus Mäki, a board member since 1995 and until recently the chair, is also part of Remedy’s core management team overseeing production. Upon becoming interim CEO he relinquished the chairmanship but retained his seat as a regular board member. Henry Osterlund, who joined the board in 2017, has been named the new chair.
