British sensation Raye has expressed her profound disappointment after dozens of supporters were unexpectedly barred from her Paris performance due to a technical oversight. The singer-songwriter shared that she was caught off guard by the news that 65 fans were denied entry to her show at the Accor Arena, despite holding legitimate tickets.
In a heartfelt update shared via her Instagram Story on Tuesday (Feb. 17), the “Genesis” artist described herself as “completely devastated” for the fans who missed out on the Sunday night event. “This is completely unacceptable and wrong,” she stated emphatically.
Raye clarified that the issue stemmed from a malfunction within the ticketing infrastructure. “I have been told this was a system error at Ticketmaster, meaning 65 tickets were not fully validated when they were purchased,” she explained. “This was outside of anything I could control and I feel saddened and let down.”
While Ticketmaster has already initiated a process to issue refunds and vouchers to those affected, Raye is taking personal responsibility to ensure the fans feel valued. To mitigate the frustration caused by the glitch, she announced a generous compensation package for the 65 individuals involved.
“I’d like to offer all of these 65 people who didn’t get in to the show complimentary tickets to any future Raye show of their choice and a signed vinyl,” she wrote, adding that her team would be reaching out to them directly. “I know this doesn’t even remotely make up for this mess, but it’s all I can think of in this moment to soften the blow.”
A spokesperson for Ticketmaster addressed the incident in a statement to People, acknowledging that a “small number of fans experienced a technical issue when entering the show.” The company confirmed that they have provided full refunds and gift cards to the impacted concertgoers in an attempt to rectify the situation.
Raye is currently in the midst of her “This Tour May Contain New Music” trek, which kicked off in late January and is currently winding through Europe. Following the European leg, she is scheduled to bring her live show to North America, with dates running from March through mid-May.
The tour serves as a prelude to her highly anticipated sophomore album, This Music May Contain Hope, slated for release on March 27. The project features her viral hit “Where Is My Husband!”, which climbed to No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January, marking her most successful chart performance to date.
