A fan-made Banjo-Kazooie in Dreams has gone viral, reigniting interest in Rare’s classic platformer.
Conversation around Banjo-Kazooie has erupted again. The catalyst was a fan project, Banjo-Kazooie: Mumbomania, created in Dreams for PlayStation 4 and 5 by enthusiasts Eupholace and 1Collaborator. The team rebuilt the beloved bear-and-bird adventure with such care and meticulous detail that the project rapidly spread online. Even the original developer, Rare, acknowledged it on social media, calling it “an incredible piece of work.”
But that compliment quickly turned into a problem for Rare. As the post circulated, fans began pressuring Xbox and the studio for a full return of Banjo-Kazooie. The comments under Rare’s post became an organized flash mob — users posted dozens of messages such as “Hire this person,” “Why don’t you make this yourselves?” and “Give Banjo a chance.”
The creator of Mumbomania has already said they’re open to working on an official version if Xbox or Rare express interest. For now, Microsoft and the studio have not issued any public comment.
