Quentin Tarantino’s Two Kill Bill Films Finally Return to Theaters as One Masterpiece

Quentin Tarantino devotees will soon be able to experience Kill Bill exactly as its director conceived it: a single, uninterrupted film. The unified edition, titled Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, opens in theaters across the U.S. on Dec. 5, 2025.

Originally released in two parts—Vol. 1 (2003) and Vol. 2 (2004)—the story was always intended as one continuous narrative. This combined theatrical presentation removes the cliffhanger that ended the first installment and omits the recap that began the second. For this rollout Tarantino has also included a previously unseen animated sequence running approximately seven and a half minutes, a fresh element fans are likely to relish. Select venues will present the film in 70mm and 35mm prints.

Tarantino has emphasized his preference for the unified experience, urging audiences to see the film on the biggest screen possible: “The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theater in glorious 70mm or 35mm,” he said, noting that the theatrical environment amplifies the film’s visceral impact.

While this combined version has surfaced occasionally at festivals and special events, the Dec. 5 engagement represents the first wide theatrical run of Tarantino’s unrated vision, presented with an intermission. Over the years Kill Bill has endured as a touchstone in modern genre cinema, influencing directors, musicians, and visual artists alike.

The plot follows Uma Thurman as the vengeful former assassin known as The Bride, who awakens from a coma after a massacre at her wedding rehearsal orchestrated by her ex-lover and boss, Bill (David Carradine). With her pregnancy stolen and her life upended, she embarks on a bloody crusade against the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad—played by Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, and Daryl Hannah—ultimately confronting Bill himself.

Equal parts homage and reinvention, Kill Bill channels ’70s kung-fu cinema while unfolding like a relentless boss‑rush—an approach that has long fueled speculation and desire for a potential third installment.
