The Hollywood Reporter has released a list of actors reportedly under consideration for roles in Michael Mann’s forthcoming sequel to the crime thriller Heat.
The cast is said to potentially include Leonardo DiCaprio — who may take on the role Val Kilmer played in the original — as well as Adam Driver, Bradley Cooper and Austin Butler.
Mann is set to return as director. United Artists (part of Amazon’s MGM) will distribute the film, replacing the previously announced Warner Bros., and the budget is estimated at about $170 million.
Mann previously indicated that filming could begin in 2026. Heat 2 will be adapted from the 2022 novel of the same name by Mann and Meg Gardiner, and its story will unfold both before and after the events of the original film starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
