Post Malone delivered a high-octane performance to open the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, treating fans to a career-spanning set that featured the surprise live debut of a brand-new track.
Donning his signature cowboy aesthetic, the 31-year-old music titan commanded the center stage at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, just moments before the championship showdown between Argentina and Spain.
The performance kicked off with an unreleased song—tentatively titled “Chrome Heartbreaker”—before transitioning into the high-energy fan favorite “Wow.,” a 2019 chart-topper.
As fireworks illuminated the New Jersey skyline, Malone—sporting a playful shirt declaring “I Just Hope Both Teams Have Fun”—was joined by Swae Lee. Together, the pair delivered a soaring rendition of their multi-platinum smash, “Sunflower,” from the beloved Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack.
Earlier in the pre-match festivities, streamer IShowSpeed energized the massive crowd with a spirited rendition of his viral track “Champions,” complete with an ensemble of rhythmic drummers and dancers.
The global broadcast also featured a star-studded halftime spectacle, with a performance curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and featuring a powerhouse lineup of BTS, Justin Bieber, Madonna, and Shakira.
In a pre-show statement, FIFA president Gianni Infantino celebrated the event’s cultural impact: “At a time when sport, culture and global attention converge, Post Malone will deliver a performance designed to celebrate the tournament’s journey and ignite the atmosphere. The closing ceremony sets the tone for a historic FIFA World Cup final, uniting the passion of 48 teams, 16 host cities and millions of fans on one unforgettable stage.”
The afternoon’s entertainment also included a national anthem performance by Jennifer Hudson, while appearances by Robbie Williams, Laura Pausini, and Nicole Scherzinger rounded out the celebration. Hollywood icon Tom Cruise also made an appearance during the pre-kickoff festivities.
