Pokémon to Surprise Fans With TCG’s First Valentine’s Day Set

Although the final major trading card game expansion of 2026, Delta Reign, has yet to hit shelves, The Pokémon Company is already looking ahead. Alongside the previously confirmed Pokémon ex★ series launching in 2027, industry leaders are preparing to ring in the new year with an entirely fresh seasonal collection.

According to PokéBeach, a trusted publication renowned for accurate TCG scoops, TPC will debut its inaugural Valentine’s Day-themed assortment early next year. Rather than functioning as a standard core expansion—such as Pitch Black or Chaos Rising—this collection appears designed as an exclusive, limited-window release. Industry insiders speculate it will mirror the framework of Trick or Trade, the company’s popular Halloween-themed bundle. That spooky assortment featured 30 cards spotlighting Ghost- and Dark-type Pokémon. While it lacked exclusive artwork variants, every card bore a distinctive orange Pikachu pumpkin insignia. Naturally, the upcoming Valentine’s lineup is expected to introduce its own commemorative Pikachu stamp—potentially finished in a romantic pink hue.

Comprehensive details regarding the Valentine’s collection remain scarce, as TPC has yet to issue an official announcement. It is widely anticipated that the assortment will heavily showcase red, pink, and Psychic-type creatures, given that the Fairy typing is absent from the modern TCG. The products will likely be distributed in compact booster packs well-suited for greeting card exchanges. Moreover, adhering to current market trends, securing these items upon launch may prove quite challenging for collectors.

For dedicated enthusiasts, the return of specialized seasonal products is a welcome development. TPC has not refreshed its Trick or Trade line in over two years, and despite relying mostly on reprints without bespoke artwork, sealed Halloween Booster Bundles continue to command strong secondary market prices. Introducing a mainstream-friendly holiday set could also successfully alleviate some of the crushing consumer demand currently plaguing the TCG’s primary expansions.

According to PokéBeach, the Valentine’s Day TCG set is slated for release on January 27, 2027. Prior to that rollout, collectors can anticipate the second major wave of the Pokémon 30th Anniversary celebration, alongside a dedicated Rayquaza expansion arriving in early November 2026.
