Pokémon Pokopia has officially arrived on the Nintendo Switch 2, and trainers already have their first seasonal milestone to look forward to. The game’s inaugural limited-time event, “More Spores for Hoppip,” is set to commence this Monday, March 9, at 1 p.m. PT. Running through March 24, this celebration offers players a dedicated window to encounter and befriend the Cottonweed Pokémon, Hoppip.
By befriending Hoppip during the festivities, you can gather unique cotton spores that will scatter across your various biomes. These spores act as a special currency which can be exchanged for an array of picnic-themed furniture. Once you’ve decorated your habitats with these new aesthetic pieces, you’ll be able to attract Hoppip’s evolved forms, Skiploom and Jumpluff.
As it stands, the Hoppip family cannot be encountered through standard gameplay outside of this event. While the official window closes in late March, some players have already discovered a workaround by manipulating the Switch 2’s internal clock to bypass the start date. This suggests that “time-traveling” might also work for those who happen to miss the live window. Note that participation requires a town with a fully reconstructed Pokémon Center—a task that typically takes between 5 and 10 hours of playtime—and the event is not accessible while on Cloud Islands.
Beyond the Hoppip festivities, a long-term promotion is currently active. From now until January 31, 2027, players can navigate to the Mystery Gifts menu and select “Get via Internet” to receive a decorative Ditto rug. If the Mystery Gifts option is currently greyed out, simply progress through the main story for about 30 minutes to unlock it.
