Pokémon GO Zorua Community Day Guide

Comment Views: 3

Pokémon Go is gearing up for an exciting Zorua Community Day on Saturday, October 10, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. Please note that this special event focuses exclusively on the original Unovan Zorua, meaning the Ghost- and Normal-type Hisuian variant will not be making an appearance.

As a quick refresher, wild Zorua will cleverly disguise themselves as whatever Pokémon you currently have set as your buddy. Once successfully captured, they will reveal their true identity and transform back into Zorua, much like Ditto.

True to tradition, expect massive spawn rates throughout the event alongside significantly boosted shiny encounters. We have detailed all the exclusive perks, bonuses, and strategies you need to know below.

How to Secure a Shiny Zorua

Based on historical research data regarding Community Day rates (traditionally hovering around a 1 in 24 probability), dedicating a solid portion of the three-hour window to hunting should net you several shiny encounters.

If you find yourself pressed for time or low on Poké Balls, activate an Incense and rapidly tap on each spawned Zorua to check for its shiny variant, fleeing immediately if it isn’t the one you’re looking for. A helpful visual indicator: any Zorua you have already interacted with will automatically pivot to face your avatar’s exact position, making it effortless to track which ones you’ve checked.

What Exclusive Move Does Zoroark Learn?

Evolving Zorua into Zoroark anytime between 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM local time will reward you with a specimen that knows the powerful Fast Attack, Sucker Punch.

Should you happen to miss this evolutionary window, you will likely get another opportunity during the comprehensive December Community Day weekend recap. Alternatively, you can always bypass the wait by using an Elite Fast TM.

How Does Zoroark Perform in the Meta?

Unfortunately, Zoroark struggles to carve out a viable niche in either PvE (Gym battles and Raid dens) or PvP formats.

While you can equip it with a moveset consisting of Sucker Punch and Foul Play for collection purposes, it is generally not recommended for serious raid rosters or competitive League battles.

How to Maximize Your Community Day Experience

A generous array of bonuses will remain active throughout the event:

  • 3× XP for catching Pokémon
  • 2× Candy for catching Pokémon
  • Double the chance for Trainers level 31 and above to receive Candy XL upon catching Pokémon
  • Incense duration extended to three hours
  • Lure Modules duration extended to one hour
  • Surprise photobomb encounters with Zorua when taking snapshots
  • One additional Special Trade permitted
  • Stardust requirements for trades halved

To capitalize fully on these perks, be sure to pop a Lucky Egg alongside your Incense to hunt down top-tier Zorua.

Furthermore, if you are able to Mega Evolve a Gyarados, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Sableye, Sharpedo, Absol, Greninja, or Malamar beforehand, you will secure extra Zorua Candy with every successful capture.

If you are currently grinding out Masterwork Research tasks or leveling up requirements that demand excellent throws, consider setting your buddy to a Pokémon featuring a notably large catch ring for the duration of the event. We suggest reliable options like Snorlax, Wailmer, or Gourgeist, though any Pokémon you feel entirely comfortable landing consistent excellent throws on will do.

Additionally, if the repetitive Zorua transformation animation begins to slow you down, you can bypass it entirely by setting a Zorua as your active buddy, enabling much faster catch cycles. Utilizing the quick-catch technique will similarly skip this transition sequence.

Finally, Scopely Explore is extending its ongoing “Lure Module Bonus.” From 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Lure Modules will continue generating high densities of Zorua spawns. Even after the official Community Day hours conclude at 5:00 PM, active lures will retain the boosted Community Day shiny rates, giving you extra time to hunt down a shiny or a variant featuring a Special Background.
