Last week noticed Epic announce and beta launch a battle royale mode for Fortnite. In its announcement, Epic referred to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the battle royale multiplayer shooter that has shot to the top of Steam, and gamers had been fast to attract comparisons between the 2 video games. “We’ve had an ongoing relationship with Epic Games throughout PUBG’s development as they are the creators of UE4, the engine we licensed for the game,” Chang Han Kim, Bluehole’s vice chairman and govt producer, says in a press launch. “After listening to the growing feedback from our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, we are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known.”

 It wasn’t solely Fortnite’s mechanical similarities, Bluehole level to the way in which Epic have referenced PUBG in its bulletins about its battle royale mode. “We have also noticed that Epic Games references PUBG in the promotion of Fortnite to their community and in communications with the press,” Han Kim continues. “This was never discussed with us and we don’t feel that it’s right.”

Currently, Bluehole are solely saying they’ve seen gamers’ issues with the similarities between the 2 video games. But Han Kim additionally says: “The PUBG community has and continues to provide evidence of the many similarities as we contemplate further action.”
