For fans who have spent the last six years waiting for a follow-up to Phoebe Bridgers’ solo discography, the wait is finally coming to an end. The indie-rock icon is officially ready to welcome listeners back into her world.
Bridgers announced on Wednesday (June 24) that her highly anticipated third studio album, Lost Weekend, is slated for release on August 14. In a recent social media update, the boygenius star confirmed the 16-track project will be preceded by a lead single arriving this Thursday (June 25). The reveal was accompanied by the project’s striking cover art, which features a haunting, abstract portrait of the artist set against a palette of deep blues, blacks, and greens.
It has been a significant hiatus for the singer, whose previous solo effort, Punisher (2020), remains her most successful chart performance to date, peaking at No. 43 on the Billboard 200. Her debut, Stranger in the Alps, set the foundation with a No. 82 debut.
The four-time Grammy winner has remained incredibly prolific during this break, however. She played a pivotal role in the massive success of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour—frequently joining Swift for their Red (Taylor’s Version) collaboration, “Nothing New”—and solidified her creative partnership with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. The trio’s 2023 boygenius record, The Record, reached an impressive No. 4 on the U.S. albums chart.
After a period of relative quiet, Bridgers re-emerged this spring with an enigmatic string of secret pop-up gigs across the U.S. The mini-tour reached its emotional peak at Madison Square Garden, where proceeds were donated to the Immigration Bond Freedom Fund. During these intimate performances, fans were treated to early previews of Lost Weekend tracks, showcasing a soundscape that drifted between acoustic textures and atmospheric Mellotron layers.
The California-born artist is now preparing for a major headlining tour, which launches in Indianapolis on September 14. The “Lost Tour” is scheduled to run through mid-December, spanning dates across North America and Europe.
