Percy Jackson Season 3 to Alter Book Formula
Disney is set to release the third season of its Percy Jackson and the Olympians adaptation on Nov. 20. While that release date is approaching, the studio has shared limited details about what to expect from The Titan’s Curse. Major changes are in store, especially concerning one of the most important characters in the series.
In Percy Jackson season 3, viewers will be introduced to siblings Nico and Bianca di Angelo. The two children hold great importance to the central prophecy that also concerns Percy due to their parentage. Bianca accompanies Percy on a quest to track down Annabeth and the missing goddess Artemis, while Nico remains at Camp Half-Blood. Because the books are told from Percy’s perspective, The Titan’s Curse does not feature Nico extensively. The television adaptation changes this dynamic.
Walker Scobell revealed that Nico will be “a bigger part of the entire season” in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He noted that the story will not rely solely on Percy’s point of view this time around. “There are a couple times where we get to see what’s going on at camp, and how Nico’s doing.” Levi Chrisopulos, who plays Nico, teased that the show retains some “solid points of Nico’s personality from the book” while making specific adjustments. Scobell and Chrisopulos also shared that the two characters share a mutual respect stemming from their shared drive to protect the people they care about, establishing a bond that sets up important plot points in later books.
Who is in Percy Jackson season 3?
Scobell leads the show once again as Percy alongside returning cast members Aryan Simhadri as Grover and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth. Olive Abercrombie plays Bianca. The third season also introduces several gods, including Dafne Keen as Artemis, Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite, Ming-Na Wen as Hera, Jennifer Beals as Demeter, and Hubert Smielecki as Apollo. Holt McCallany portrays Atlas, the main antagonist of the season.
With season 3, Disney’s adaptation moves into uncharted territory. While the first two books in Rick Riordan‘s series received feature film adaptations from 20th Century Fox, this marks the first screen adaptation of the third book. The series has five books total, and Disney has not yet officially renewed the show for a fourth season.
