Pepsi has officially severed its long-standing partnership with London’s Wireless Festival following a firestorm of controversy over the event’s decision to feature Ye as its primary headliner.

The beverage titan, which has served as the festival’s title sponsor for a decade, announced its withdrawal after Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) was confirmed to lead the lineup for all three nights of the summer event. A spokesperson for Pepsi confirmed the move to Billboard on Sunday, April 5, ending the “Pepsi MAX Presents Wireless” era that began in 2015.

The upcoming festival is scheduled to take place from July 10–12 at Finsbury Park. While West previously headlined the London staple in 2014, his return this year has been met with intense scrutiny from high-ranking political figures and advocacy groups.

A Chorus of Political Rebukes

The decision to book the embattled rapper drew a sharp rebuke from British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. “It is deeply concerning that Kanye West has been booked to perform at Wireless despite his history of antisemitic rhetoric and the glorification of Nazism,” Starmer stated, according to The Guardian. He emphasized that antisemitism is “abhorrent” and must be confronted to ensure the safety and security of the Jewish community in Britain.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan also distanced his office from the organizers’ choice, telling Complex that Ye’s past behavior is “offensive and wrong” and does not align with London’s core values. Khan clarified that City Hall played no role in the booking process.

Community Backlash and Ye’s Response

The Jewish Leadership Council labeled the festival’s decision “deeply irresponsible,” pointing to the record-high levels of antisemitism currently reported across the UK. A spokesperson for the Council noted that providing such a massive platform to the artist is insensitive to the climate of fear currently affecting Jewish citizens.

Ye has spent the last few years embroiled in scandal due to his repeated praise for Nazi ideology and his use of hate-filled imagery. In early 2026, he attempted to mitigate the damage by publishing a full-page apology in the Wall Street Journal, suggesting that brain damage from a 2022 car accident had contributed to his mental health struggles and subsequent outbursts.

Despite the loss of its major sponsor and the surrounding political turmoil, Ye’s career momentum continues. He recently released his 12th studio album, Bully, and has been performing at major venues, including SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and a recent appearance in Mexico City. Following his controversial Wireless set, he is slated to perform at the RCF Arena in Italy on July 18.
