Perched on the banks of the Illinois River, Peoria ranks among the state’s larger cities and boasts a long industrial heritage, a memorable skyline, and deep ties to the Midwest. Heavy industry has shaped the city’s identity for generations, and that industrial spirit is reflected throughout our map design.
Peoria is historically linked with a major global manufacturer of construction and mining machinery that once maintained its headquarters here. That legacy remains visible today in the form of depots, service facilities, and a well-visited visitor center that locals and visitors often seek out. In American Truck Simulator, players will deliver to a variety of industrial sites scattered around the region, mirroring Peoria’s ongoing role as a center for heavy equipment and manufacturing.
Peoria’s relationship with the Illinois River runs through its history — from fur trading and river commerce to contemporary logistics. Our map includes a purpose-built river port depot so drivers can experience waterfront deliveries firsthand. The riverfront scenes also create some of the most scenic and memorable drives in the area.
Although the full extent of downtown is beyond the map’s scale, we’ve recreated several recognizable landmarks to capture the city’s atmosphere. Hospitals, bridges, and the distinctive Twin Towers Place are included to give a faithful impression of Peoria’s skyline and urban fabric, even when viewed from a distance.
The regional road network around Peoria funnels traffic along Interstate 74 — linking the city with Bloomington and points east and west — as well as U.S. Route 24. These corridors are vital for truckers traversing central Illinois and ensure Peoria remains an important waypoint on longer hauls.
