Greetings from the Paradox Mods team!
Welcome to our inaugural developer diary. Over the past few months, we have been hard at work crafting several powerful new features. We are thrilled to offer you a preview of what is coming in our next update, currently slated for release by the end of this month.
Our primary objective is to continuously refine your experience within Paradox Mods. Whether it is implementing highly requested features or streamlining the small day-to-day interactions, we are dedicated to making your time on the platform more intuitive and enjoyable. We look forward to your feedback on these updates and whether you would like to see more deep-dives into our development process in the future.
Collaborative Playsets
Playsets serve as the foundation of the Paradox Mods ecosystem, allowing you to curate distinct mod configurations to suit different playstyles. We believe these personalized experiences are worth sharing.
In this upcoming version, you will have the ability to share your custom playsets with the community and subscribe to those curated by others. This simplifies the process of aligning your mod list with friends or exploring new, community-driven gameplay setups.
Publishing Your Setup
Sharing is effortless: simply navigate to your playset, where you will find a refreshed interface featuring a “Make playset public” button. You can keep your existing name and description or opt to create new ones for your public listing.

Publish your configuration for others to enjoy!
Once published, your playset is accessible via a unique link or ID. Both discovery and subscription can be managed directly within the game or via the official Paradox Mods website.
Refining the Sharing Workflow
We recognized early on that a simple “share” button could become cumbersome if it inadvertently disrupted subscribers’ local configurations every time the author made a change. To solve this, we have implemented a version-controlled snapshot system.
Managing Public Configurations
When you publish a playset, the system generates a static snapshot of your enabled mods. This ensures your active, private workspace remains distinct; you can continue experimenting and tweaking your local setup without impacting your subscribers.
Modifications made to your private list will not automatically propagate to your public version. When you are satisfied with a set of changes, you can manually push an update, creating a new, distinct version for your audience.

Managing the public representation of your playset.
By default, subscribers are “pinned” to the specific version they originally installed. This stability prevents unexpected breakages when an author updates their collection. Furthermore, you retain full control to delete specific versions of your public playsets at any time.
Subscribing and Staying in Control
Subscribing is straightforward—just use the link or ID provided by the creator. Once subscribed, you are locked to the version you initially selected, ensuring a stable experience. We will notify you when a newer version is available, granting you the choice to manually update at your convenience.

Quickly access shared playsets using a link or ID.
While only the author can manage the master list of mods in a public playset, you are free to disable individual mods locally. If you desire even deeper customization, you can duplicate any shared playset to create your own personal, editable branch.
Optimized In-Game Management
We’ve heard your feedback regarding performance. To deliver a snappier, more responsive experience, we have completely overhauled the underlying SDK. Interaction no longer waits for download completion; you can now subscribe to mods and continue browsing immediately while the downloads happen in the background.
Download Enhancements
We have introduced two major improvements to mod management:
- Precision Tracking: Progress bars are now more accurate and consistent, preventing the common “stuck” status on larger downloads.
- Parallel Processing: The client can now download up to three mods simultaneously. Our intelligent queuing system prioritizes a mix of large and small files to maximize your bandwidth and disk throughput.

Experience faster downloads with parallel processing.
Refined Conflict Resolution
Sync conflicts are a source of frustration, so we have refined the synchronization process to minimize their occurrence. If a conflict does arise, you will receive clearer information, allowing you to make an informed decision to resolve the issue swiftly.

Clearer diagnostic tools for resolving sync issues.
Web Experience Upgrades
The Paradox Mods website has also received a facelift. We’ve refreshed the browsing and author pages with a cleaner aesthetic while maintaining the unique visual identity of each game. We’ve also replaced infinite scrolling with a paginated system, resulting in a more structured, performant, and reliable browsing experience.

A revitalized, user-friendly interface.
That concludes our first developer diary. Thank you for your continued support—we look forward to rolling these improvements out to you soon!
