Overwatch’s subsequent hero is being examined, says Blizzard

Overwatch, aka The Shooter You Proposed To In A Fit Of Passionate Desperation And Who Rejected You, has had its 2018 plans roughly drawn onto a serviette by recreation director Jeff Kaplan. By that I imply there’s been one other developer replace video. The 27^th hero goes by way of “internal testing”, he says, however we’re to obtain no extra details about this shooty man/girl/robotic simply but, nor are we advised when to anticipate the brand new hero. “The release date is less important to us than getting the hero right,” he says.

Here’s the replace in full. It’s roughly a round-up of final 12 months’s additions (just like the introduction of heroes Doomfist, Orisa and Moira) together with a reassurance that, sure, they’re nonetheless urgent buttons on their Overwatch machines.

All that’s stated of the brand new fighter is that they’re “very needed”. I’ve been absent from Overwatch too lengthy to know what gaps exist within the fiery cocktail of stratagems and staff compositions however maybe they’re making a hero that dissolves the mouse and keyboard of any participant who selects Genji. That might work.

They’re additionally taking a look at future heroes, past this one, says Kaplan, in addition to engaged on their esports scene. Blizzard arrange the Overwatch League in the summertime of final 12 months, introducing teams from the US and Asia in addition to London.

More animated shorts and comics are additionally arising, he says, which is not any nice shock. Likewise, there’s going to be one other occasion for the Lunar New Year. Last 12 months it was the Year of the Rooster and this time it’s the Year of the Dog. There’ll be different occasions too, as anticipated, together with some continuation of last year’s PvE Uprising do-dad. Loads of earlier occasions will probably be repeated too, giving gamers one other probability to get any time-limited skins they missed.

In different phrases, it’s a obscure round-up vlog with no concrete information. But you had been simply sitting there rocking backwards and forwards questioning why Jeff hadn’t stated hey to you for 3 complete weeks, so I assumed I ought to put you out of your distress.
