One Piece: Elbaph Arc Official Release Date Announced Sooner Than Expected

After a quarter-century of continuous weekly broadcasting, the One Piece anime has officially transitioned to a seasonal release format, aligning with the production standards of modern prestige series. While fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the show’s return, Crunchyroll and Toei Animation have finally confirmed that the voyage resumes on April 5.

This return marks the beginning of the highly anticipated Elbaph arc. The Straw Hat Pirates are finally set to step foot in the legendary land of giants—a destination that has occupied the crew’s dreams since their earliest days in the Grand Line. The timing is particularly striking, as Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 teaser recently showcased the crew’s arrival at Little Garden, where they first encountered the giant warriors Dorry and Broggy. Meanwhile, the original manga is currently deep into this new narrative, with the Elbaph story proving to be just as high-stakes and transformative as the Egghead Island saga that preceded it.

For those following the English dub, there is additional good news: the concluding chapters of the Egghead Arc (episodes 1144 through 1155) are scheduled to arrive on Crunchyroll on March 22.

By moving away from an uninterrupted weekly schedule, Toei Animation will now produce 26 episodes annually, divided into two seasonal “cours.” This shift ensures that each episode will adapt at least one full manga chapter, effectively ending the era of artificial padding and excessive filler content. The series previously took a strategic six-month hiatus from late 2024 through early 2025, a move designed to elevate animation quality and allow the manga to pull further ahead, thereby securing a healthier production pace.

Even during these animated interludes, the One Piece franchise remains more active than ever thanks to the live-action adaptation and weekly manga updates. To celebrate the next phase of the journey, Viz Media and Shonen Jump are currently offering free access to the first 155 chapters of the manga until April 10.
