Netflix is expanding its catalog of One Piece with the addition of the Zou Island arc, one of the franchise’s more compact but consequential storylines. The first tranche of episodes is slated to arrive on the streamer in October 2025, though exactly how many episodes will be included in that initial drop hasn’t been fully detailed.
Rather than presenting Zou as a single large season, Netflix has divided the arc into three separate parts. At the time of writing there’s been no official word that all three parts will be published simultaneously — a rollout that would align with the platform’s recent tendency to stagger releases of even its most popular series. This multipart approach mirrors other distribution choices the streamer has made recently.
Currently, Netflix lists roughly 750 episodes of One Piece in its library, and the Zou arc itself spans 29 episodes. The show’s landing page indicates that “season 25” is scheduled for release on Oct. 1, 2025, although the anime traditionally airs continuously and is more naturally divided into narrative arcs than conventional seasons. Over the past year Netflix added the Marineford, Fishman Island and Punk Hazard arcs; in 2025 the entire Dressrosa arc and the filler Silver Mine arc were added as well. There’s not yet an official release date for the next arc after Zou, Whole Cake Island.
Although brief, Zou is rich with worldbuilding and includes a pivotal flashback that leads to one of the series’ most memorable revelations. Its immediate plot consequences may feel contained, but the arc has a profound emotional weight for the crew — especially in how it underscores loyalty and courage, themes that resonate strongly with Usopp’s ongoing development.
