British Ice Dancers Transform Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” Into a Riveting Rink Routine
Published: February 2025

From the music video to the ice: British ice dancers Lilah Fear and Lewis K. Gibson recently reimagined Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” in a graceful, theatrical routine shared by the Olympics’ official Instagram account.
The clip finds Fear — an Olympic bronze medalist — and Gibson — a seven-time British ice dance champion — weaving Swift-inspired shapes across the rink. They substitute the pop star’s original choreography with their own sweeping lifts, precise twizzles and dramatic lines, translating the song’s cinematic energy into a compelling figure-skating performance.
The Olympics’ caption praised the pair’s effortless chemistry and even joked about whether Swift has seen their take: “Lilah and Lewis make it look so simple… By the way, how has Taylor not seen this yet?”
This moment arrives ahead of the 2026 Winter Games in Italy, which open on February 6, 2026. In addition to figure skating, the Games will feature alpine and freestyle skiing, bobsled, curling, ice hockey and several other disciplines.
“The Fate of Ophelia” is currently enjoying widespread commercial success, spending multiple weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. The song is the standout single from Swift’s October release, The Life of a Showgirl, an album that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and set a new record for largest opening-week sales.
Other high-profile artists have also participated in Olympic promotional content. This month, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo starred in short films highlighting Team USA’s curling and figure-skating teams, respectively, produced in partnership with NBC.
